From House to Home

This is something I wrote when first entering treatment. Things are different now, but I would still like to share it.

From House to Home.

Walk
Not very far, just to the stop
Get off, wait for the next one
Take a ride
Reach the station
Walk through, board the train
Take another ride
Wait for the doors to open, step outside
Not much further now
Feeling sick, three more blocks
Cross Lehigh, almost there
Hear them yell
"Works, works"
"Hard, powder, dope"
Ignore, walk to the next block
They have what I need
Exchange money for heroin
Walk back towards the station
Stop behind a building
Dump one out, add water
Suck it into the syringe
So close
Stick in the vein, draw back
See blood, push in
Now, I'm home.
